The following resources and tools are suggested for use to address the oral health needs of infants, children, and adolescents:

Caries Risk Assessment
AAPD Tools: the AAPD policy statement on the Use of a Caries-risk Assessment Tool (CAT) for Infants, Children, and Adolescents and a copy of the risk assessment tool is available under the header Oral Health Policies.
Tooth Eruption Charts
Primary and Permanent Tooth Eruption Charts is available from the American Dental Association.
Bright Futures Oral Health Pocket Guide
Bright Futures in Practice: Oral Health Pocket Guide offers information specific to each developmental period and addresses risk assessment for dental caries, periodontal disease, malocclusion, and injury.
CMS Guide
A Guide to Children’s Dental Care in Medicaid (PDF) is intended as a resource of current information on clinical practice, evolving technologies, and recommendations in dental care.
Pediatric Oral Health
A Health Professional’s Guide to Pediatric Oral Health Management includes information on performing oral screenings to identify infants and children at increased risk for oral health problems, offering referrals to oral health professionals, and providing parents with anticipatory guidance.
Open Wide Open Wide: Oral Health Training for Health Professionals offers health and early childhood professionals information to help them prevent tooth decay.
AAP Oral Health Risk Assessment: Training for Pediatricians and Other Child Health Professionals provides a concise overview of how to perform an oral examination and conduct an oral health risk assessment and triage for infants and young children.
