Integrating Oral Health into Primary Care: Upcoming Technical Assistance Announcement
The DC Pediatric Oral Health Coalition (DCPOHC) is pleased to announce that starting September 2014, technical assistance will be available for EPSDT primary care providers and their staffs to implement fluoride varnish application into their medical practices.
Eligible applicants are primary care providers and their staffs who have completed the EPSDT fluoride varnish application training in person or online and passed the online assessment. DCPOHC strongly encourage trained providers who have either started implementation or plan to implement fluoride varnish application in their practices to register.
The technical assistance program will assist primary care providers and their staff with implementation of fluoride varnish into well child-care visits by providing tips and tools on how to integrate oral health into patients’ flow.
- Understand the importance of oral health screening in medical practices
- Understand tips and tools for implementing oral health risk assessments into your practice
- Provide counseling and anticipatory guidance to parents or caregivers
- Implement an office policy to promote oral health education and application of fluoride varnish into your practice
